A photo project about one of the more desperate neighbourhoods one can think of. Désirée van Hoek photographed the streets and their dwellers in this area in Los Angeles for 6 years. She overcame her fear and shows us the people that live there out on the streets as fellow humans.
For this book the photographer travelled to various places in the world with a dancer as his model, some colour and of course his camera. He then captured the movement of the dancers while they danced. No photoshop involved here.
This book is Dana Lixenberg’s magnum opus. After working for 23 years on this subject, the publication of a comprehensive book about it, is a major thing in her career. I was honoured she invited me to team up with her.
New Horizons is the finishing object of a journey that involved a lot of time, motivated people and an enthousiastic artist. I loved to participate in this project because it was a great and fun journey. My challenge was to reproduce the colours of the beautiful and colorful images.
I’m a big fan of Erik van der Weijde’s publications. So I jumped on the possibility to work with him on a book.
In lithography or toning Erik did most of the work.
Photographer Sanne Peper, made several trips through the Deep South of the US. There is lot’s of nature in this book. But it is not about that. She feels very uncomfortable in nature. To her nature is death.
This book is printed like a newspaper, on newspaper stock (only a bit thicker). Something had to be found to assure that the image quality would be photographic. For me it was a first time to work with one of them big Newspaper presses.
A group of 10 Magnum photographers investigated the city of Rochester. In 1000 images a portrait of the city is given. For me it was a challenge to prepare all those images in limited time.
A long term project by photographer Doug Dubois, this book is about teenagers growing up to adults. The series was shot in Ireland in one particular area. Doug came back each summer for 6 years in a row. Many of the images are staged.
Ojeikere won quite some fame with his images of the intricate hairdo’s of Nigerian women. The intention was after his death to publish a comprehensive catalogue of all his work.
