The Book
Human Nature is Lucas Foglia's third project and can in a way be seen as a follow-up to the previous projects. So, with these images he tries to discover how we as humans rely on nature and in fighting climate change. Throughout his images you can see people who have abandoned the cities and are trying to completely live off nature and therefor leave the smallest foot print, too people who have incorporated nature into the concrete jungle of big cities. So, for example, skyscrapers that have been decked out with plants all over them. Furthermore, there are many examples in his work that show how we as humans are trying to incorporate, rely and live together with the nature around us. Moreover, this project goes all over the world and really gives an interesting view.
The Process
Lucas Foglia came over from San Fransisco to work with me. He had toned the images he made already to perfection by himself when he came to me. So, it was my job the create CMYK versions that would honour his endeavours. The publisher had full confidence in us that we could produce the book to the highest standards and within time and budget. So, we were quite free to do so. Our main goal was to reproduce the images in a way that would satisfy the collectors as they expect to see the images in the book to be the same, or match very closely to the prints they bought. And, after two museum shows of the original prints and two gallery shows i think it is safe to say we did a good job!
